Australia's biggest recorded wave

Tasmania's West Coast is often hit by monster waves. In September 2010 a wave of 18.4 metres (about 60 feet) was recorded by a buoy that is moored off the West Coast. This was the biggest waver ever recorded in Australia. Due to the huge stretch of water that lies, un-distrubed by any land, between the southern tip of South America and Tasmania waves can build up to significant heights before they hit our coast line. A surfer's paradise...if you dare!
